Bay

continuing to get RAVE reviews is the Wilderness Golf Course -- less than a
mile away! If you are up for it, try

BOAT
Bringing your own Boat
For the Weekend:
If you are bringing your boat for the
week or weekend, call in advance to reserve your dock. A small fee is charged.
Permanently:
You
may keep you boat at the Community dock for a small fee per foot of boat.
Please call to reserve. You may also
keep your boat at Aronson’s’ Boatworks and they will valet it to you when you
want it. Call John or Gretchen for more

**New Mooring at Waters of Vermilion**
Additional mooring
facilities have been granted by Greenwood
Township. We are engaged in an environmental assessment
worksheet to assure proper implementation and placement of the dock plan.
Our goal is to
have mooring rights available to each owner.
Boat Launches
Vermilion
Houseboats - The
nearest boat launch is about 1 mile away at Vermilion Houseboats. It is open dawn to dusk and the fee is
$5.
DNR

RIDE THE MAIL BOAT!
This is a must do and a great way to see Lake Vermilion -- Lake Vermilion is a large lake with
over 365 islands and 1200 miles of shoreline.
Many homes are on the islands and are only accessible by boat -- so the
local mail is delivered by boat and YOU CAN RIDE ALONG ON THE MAIL BOAT!
This needs to be booked in advance - $16 for adults, $8 for kids. It books up quickly in the summer because the
maximum passenger load is 6. If the
weather is inclimate, you can always cancel and do not pay until you actually

The
Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary operated by the American Bear Sanctuary in

Old Steam Train in Tower
Visit the steam locomotive and old passenger car that have
been a museum of the history of the Tower/Soudan area at McKinley Park
in Tower.
Soudan Underground Mine
The Historic Tour of the Soudan Underground Mine: The tour leads
visitors through the world of underground mining. Visitors wear hard hats and
enter a "cage" for the descent into the mine. The 1 1/2-hour mine
tour will take you half a mile down into the earth. Once underground you will
be treated to a 3/4 mile train ride to the last and deepest area mined. Public
tours run from Memorial Day through the end of September.
Physics Tour: The Soudan Underground Laboratory is the leading deep underground science and
engineering laboratory in the United
States today. Scientists from around the
world have been working at Soudan for 25 years trying to answer basic questions
about the Universe in which we live. Learn about our first neutrino events using
the neutrino beam from Fermilab and see the massive MINOS detector (Main
Injector Neutrino Oscillation Search). Learn about CDMS (Cryogenic Dark Matter
Search) and its continued search for a WIMP (Weakly Interacting Massive
